High Contrast - The Agony & The Ecstasy (ft.Selah Corbin) + Cyantific - Infinity [DRUM AND BASS]

I don't often post Drum & bass tunes but when I do, I post massive ones! These two tunes are definitely two of my favourite tune from this genre right now and if you take a minute to listen to those two, you'll understand why. First, High Contrast. Any Drum & Bass head already know him pretty well. He is actually touring with none other then Netsky right now and man I can't wait for this tour to stop by Montreal. Second is a new tune from Cyantific and it is freaking amazing. No wonder both of these tunes are in Beatport Drum & Bass top 10. Of course make sure you support the artists.

Flawed Logic - Singularity EP [DRUM AND BASS] [DUBSTEP]

I usually like my Drum And Bass melodic, intense like Netsky, Sigma, Camo & Krooked but today I discovered an amazing American Drum And Bass producer called "Flawed Logic". His Drum And Bass is a bit more ambient (some tracks) but wow this is quality stuff! He even goes dubstep on "Icey'! Big soul influence, great piano melodies, what more do you need! Oh and the whole EP is free btw :) I think my favorite track is "Celestial Acoustics"...show him some love on facebook

Rusko - Somebody To Love (Sigma Remix) [DRUM AND BASS]

Huge remix of Rusko's first single for his upcoming album by non other than one of my favorite Drum And Bass producers "Sigma"! His remix is by far superior to the original but I guess if you are into dubstep and not drum and bass you might disagree with me. If you enjoy the music please take a second to like us on facebook and twitter to receive updates daily and show Sigma some love on his beatport page!

Gridlock's Top 10 EDM Tracks of the Year (With some free downloads)

I bring to you my top tracks of last year, and it covers a wide spectrum of sounds and genres under the EDM umbrella. Elecktrokill all day! Give me your feed back in the comments and let me know what you agree with and disagree with.

10. TC – Tap Ho
I am not usually too big on drum and bass, I don’t know what it is, but it’s just not my thing typically. However this song is straight murder from the second it begins. TAP TAP TAP TAP HO…dunna dunna. It constantly gets stuck in my head and I don’t mind that one bit.

9. SBTRKT – Wildfire
What’s not to like about this song? It’s one of those odd songs that could either get you amped up a bit at a show, or is good in a chill setting. The production is stellar and although the rest of SBTRKT’s debut cd was great, this song is still the best track on there, hands down.

8. Dillon Francis – I.D.G.A.F.O.S.
Dillon Francis takes Skrillex’s melodies and one ups them. Have you ever heard anything so catchy? The drop is beautifully hectic; this is a great introductory track to get someone into the moombahton tempo and would work well in most any dj’s set.

7. Example – Midnight Run (Flux Pavilion Remix)
My oh my how big of a year have Flux Pavilion and his partner in crime Doctor P have had! I caught them both twice this year and was impressed with their sets both times. There were plenty of tracks I could have picked by them this year, but I just loved Example’s vocals in this song and how Flux played with them.

6. Silver Medalion – All I Ask (Codes Remix)
This is my jam. This song is instant happiness for me. Everything about it is spot on. I love the dubstep like buildup into the final drop, and there is just a great overall progression as the song plays out.

5. Deadmau5 – Aural Psynapse (Myndset Remix)
We all know Joel is a douche, but would you have him any other way. Even though he is a jerk to many, it’s quite clear just by visiting his facebook that he loves his fans, and that’s all that really matters. This track has everything you could want in a remix. It does justice to the original while adding great elements that really makes it a stand out track. It has a bit of “old school rave” feeling to it also which is nice.

4. Rusko – Everyday (Netsky Remix)
Rusko hasn’t released much this year, though a new cd will be coming out by the crazy man soon. If someone asked me to recommend one dubstep dj to go see live for a newcomer I would pick him easily. His energy on stage is just wild and his song selection is always great. Netsky destroyed this remix, it’s an absolute banger.

3. Feed Me – Pink Lady
I think Feed Me is my favorite new artist of the year. Here’s a fact not to many people know, he used to (or may one day again) produce drum and bass under the name Spor. This song is so awesome I don’t even know where to begin. The sounds are all so awesome, and that intro, has there been a better intro on any song all year? I am dying to see the man live again with his new stage setup, he plays the perfect mix of dubstep and electro house and his music selection is in perfect harmony with my own musical taste.

2. Zed’s Dead – 1975
The truth of the matter is I had the hardest time picking which Zed’s Dead song I wanted to put on this list. Every single song they have released this year has been perfect. In my eyes they can do no harm, and their brothers in battle: The Killabits are doing well too. I picked this song because I figured maybe not everyone caught it when it came out, and the vocals are a great clash with the dirty drop. Their sound is just so unique! I can’t wait to see what they do in 2012.

1. Steve Aoki and Afrojack – No Beef
Yup I said it; this is my number one song of the year. Steve Aoki has a lot of haters; he is kind of like the Skrillex of electro, except the dude doesn’t just make electro! When you see him live it feels like a party. Well it is a party! The man has really stepped up his production game this year along with Afrojack too. The vocals are top notch, and I just have three more words…EFFED UP CAMEL!

Figure - Must Destroy [DRUMSTEP] [DRUM AND BASS]

I didn't post Drumstep in a looooong time, and what a better come back to the genre than with Figure's latest monster track! This track is packed with energy, a perfect combination of Drum And Bass and Dubstep. I think it will easily please both camps ^^

Camo & Krooked - Reminisce + Camo & Krooked Ft. Ayah Marar - Cross The Line (Metrik remix) [DRUM AND BASS]

Austrian duo Reinhard Rietsch and Markus Wagner, otherwise known as Camo & Krooked have quickly become one of the hottest production outfits in Europe. Working together since 2007 they were soon being hailed as “one of the biggest talents in Drum n Bass” by the mighty Grooverider. The Viennese pair have created a whirl of dancefloor anthems in recent times. On Hospital Records they have released soulful tracks like massive hit single ‘Turn Up The Music’ to the raw power of smashers like “Climax”. They have also been in demand on a remix tip; their remix of John B’s ‘Numbers’ is a good example that they can always be relied upon to hit the right buttons. So the first track I'm sharing with you today was released on the last compilation by Hospital records «Fifteen Years Of Hospital Records» which includes massive D&B tracks. Second one is a remix of «Cross the line» by none other then Metrik. I sure hope you guys will enjoy those two amazing tracks and of course if you do, you know what to do.

Camo & Krooked - Reminisce

Here's a video made for the track. Some pretty dope skate moves in it.

Dublic - The Autumn Shock [DUBSTEP] [ELECTRO] [BREAKS] [DNB] [MOOMBAHTON]

They are hungarian twin brothers from the Budapest underground scene. They play a range of new wave Breaks, Electro, Dubstep, Drumstep, Drum and Bass, Moombahton and House. Generally the Dublic draw influence from Hip Hop and Funk elements and are known for their greasy re-edits and re-rubs which are used by the likes of Krafty Kuts, Stanton Warriors, Lady Waks, Dub Pistols, Dj Icey, KouncilHouse and the legendary hungarian DJ Palotai, among others.

Dublic started spinning vynils 5 years ago. In recent years they made a few dozens of re-edits and re-rubs with very positive listeners' reviews and they are also producing own tracks, however they haven't published them yet, but will do so in the very near future. They are co-organizers of a party-serie in Hungary called FutureMusic alongside with dj/producer Wondawulf and Dj Palotai. These events bring the newest styles and trends to Budapest, mainly starring dubstep producers, but for example one of the biggest names in moombathon, Munchi is also visited this club night in April. They had the possibility to spin with artists such as Krafty Kuts, Stanton Warriors, A-Skillz, Gemini, Bar 9, Dub Pistols, Cutline, Utah Saints, Foreign Beggars, Modestep, 16 Bit, Riva Starr, Funtcase, SlumDogz, Munchi, Beatman and Ludmilla, Dj Palotai etc...

Blu Mar Ten - Problem Child + All Or Nothing [DRUM & BASS]

Drum N Bass all-stars Blu Mar Ten have finally graced us with their long awaited second full-length album, Love Is The Devil. I can very rarely say that I enjoy every single song on an album (in fact I don't think I ever have), but I think this one may be the exception. This masterful release features a wide array of relaxed vibes, ranging from liquid DnB to Glitch and half-time DnB tracks. The sampling is simply mind-blowing and the incredible melodies create an aurally orgasmic soundscape. Listening to it the first time through, I found myself eagerly waiting for some of the half-time beats to kick into high-gear with a heavy snare or an amen break, but re-listening to it, I was able to fully appreciate the complexity of the productions for what they were: incredible, timeless pieces of art. The tracks vary in mood and vibe, but they are all individually awesome. There are a bunch of featurings on the LP, both producers and vocalists. This album is a definite must-have for any bass music lover.

After much deliberation, I couldn't select only one track to share with you, in fact I had trouble limiting myself to two. I urge everyone to listen to the rest of the tracks, as there is truly something there for everyone. You can hear samples of all 18 tracks on Blu Mar Ten's Soundcloud.

I could go on about these tracks and the album for days, but I will let the music speak for itself. Please share this with anyone you know who loves Drum N Bass, especially the old school heads. If you like what you hear, show Blu Mar Ten some love on Facebook or Soundcloud, and don't be shy about copping the album directly from their website's shop (cheaper and many options) or from Beatport.

GOLDIE + EMALKAY + 16 BIT + MT. EDEN + TROLLEY SNATCHA + BARE NOIZE + SKISM + SUKH KNIGHT+STENCHMAN+++ BASS WARS @ KOKO SATURDAY 12TH NOVEMBER 2011

Something massive will be happening @ KOKO on SATURDAY 12TH NOVEMBER 2011

++++++BASS WARS!++++++

It has just been selected as THE MOST RECOMMENDED EVENT IN NOVEMBER 2011 BY DJ MAG

"A club night that prefers to dip its toe into an eclectic pool of electronic loveliness rather than restrict itself to the tenets of a single genre... To play alongside dnb’s most prominent representative, they’ve roped in a whole host of nu-skool bass talent. It’s clearly going to be wicked."

And with a line up like this I can only agree!

Watch the trailer right here!

FACEBOOK / TICKETS / THE PLAYGROUND

Room 1:

►GOLDIE (METALHEADZ) – Pioneer in Drum n’ Bass and jungle music Goldie has worked alongside Rob Playford, Heist, David Bowie and BET’s Lifetime Achievement Awarded KRS-One. Former leader of Rufige Kru and founder of Metalheadz Records in 1994, Goldie helped popularize drum’ n’ bass as a form of musical expression. Familiar with success, Goldie’s album ‘Timeless’ hit the 7th place in the UK’s album chart in 1995 after releasing Terminator, pioneering the use of time stretching.

►EMALKAY (DUB POLICE) - Birmingham-based Dubstep producer signed to Boka and founder of his own label Morphic Sounds before settling down at Dub Police, Emalkay confirmed his name when the phenomenal When I Look At You was released in 2009. Experimenting with rhythmic, compositional and sonic qualities, choosing carefully the tracks he remixes – Watercolour from Pendulum, Sun to Me from Faithless - he is always moving forward while staying true to his sound.

►16 BIT (MTA RECORDS) – 16bit is DRT and Kidnappa a heavy Dubstep twosome from the UK. The duo have been putting on some temperature-checking sets around the world and getting their dubplates spun out by some of the scene’s names like Chef and Rusko. They have had releases on a variety of labels such as Boka Records, Destpub, Urban Essentials, Sequence, and on the legendary Southside Dubstars. In 2010 16 Bit’s track ‘Jump’ was featured in the highly circulated Nike ad, and a remix appearance on Plan B’s She Said EP.

►TROLLEY SNATCHA (DUB POLICE)
– Originally from Northampton and currently releasing on Dub Police, Trolley Snatcha used to drum n’ bass with his childhood friends, Doctor P and Flux Pavilion. The DJ assessed his belonging to dubstep with massive productions such as The Future or Bigman Vulture. Between the release of its last EP ‘One Tricky Pony’ and prestigious guest mixes including Contact and Hold On, the dj is unstoppable.

►SKISM (NEVER SAY DIE RECORDS) – is a London based DJ and producer who has rapidly cemented himself in the darker side of the Dubstep scene. Signed for ‘Never Say Die’ record label, he’s ranked as one of the Top Dubstep DJ’s and Producers worldwide, along with Datsik, Excision and Skream as well as putting his inimitable production style on the vocal talents of UK rappers the Foreign Beggars & Envy. Blazing trails through filthy, grimey, dubstep gigs across all over the world, SKisM's frantic 3 deck DJ Sets has gained notoriety as fast as his musical output.

►MT. EDEN – Mt Eden is a world renowned dubstep and drum ‘n’ bass duo from New Zealand. In 2009 they had released a free debut album called Mount Eden, which stands for the name of a ‘cinder cone’ and surrounding suburb in Auckland City their hometown. High Contrast x Tiesto x Underworld - The First Note is Silent [DRUM AND BASS]

Imo this is massive! I saw on the official youtube that a lot of people are bitchin' about Tiesto being featured in this track, High Contrast being sell out but what the hell, I don't really like tiesto but this track kicks ass! Yeah it's a bit on the cheezy Drum And Bass side but who gives a **** ;) Cheeze is good once in a while and with legends like Underworld and High Contrast on the track, to me thats a big WIN! Reminds me a bit of the Netsky remix of Scribble by Underworld, another amazing Drum, Cheeze and Bass choon!
